Dental Implants

An incomplete smile caused by missing teeth can cause great embarrassment and reduce your self-confidence. Help is at hand through the use of dental implants, the most natural alternative available for replacement teeth that can look and feel just like your own. Dental implants involve the use of an artificial tooth, which is placed into the jaw bone using a titanium screw, which in effect, seamlessly replaces the original root of the natural tooth. Dental implants sit squarely on the original gum line and look, feel and function like normal teeth. The difference between a bridge and dental implant is that an implant does not require neighbouring teeth for support due to its placement into the jaw bone. For more information speak to our dentist, Dr Andrew Boorer about whether dental implants are for you.

Invisible Braces

New and improved invisible braces that are effective in helping straighten your teeth have replaced the so-called ‘metal mouth’ braces of yesteryear. Depending on your individual needs you may be able to use Invisalign – a removable clear plastic aligner, that sits on your teeth; clear braces – made of a translucent material that sit on the front of your teeth; or lingual braces – these fit behind your teeth on the tongue side just out of sight. The application of the above options will depend on a number of factors including your age, your oral health and their cost. We are happy to provide you with an assessment to determine which option may suit your needs. Click here to make an appointment.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic application, which involves using a thin layer of porcelain to cover the front surface of a tooth to lighten discoloured teeth, brighten a smile, or cover existing chips or gaps. Resistant to staining and translucent in appearance, the veneers are bonded directly onto the front of the tooth and are smoothed over to appear natural. The difference between porcelain crowns and veneers is the total amount of tooth surface covered by the porcelain material – crowns usually cover more surface area. A consultation with Dr Andrew Boorer will determine whether you require crowns or veneers, based on your individual needs. The process will also involve your input into the design, shape and colour of the crowns or veneers. Tooth Whitening

Your general lifestyle and diet can have a dramatic effect on the colour of your teeth. Drinking coffee, smoking, poor dental hygiene and ageing can stain and discolour your teeth from a certain shade of white to a paler yellow or grey. Depending on the type and level of discolouration, a teeth-whitening procedure may assist in rejuvenating the brightness of your smile. Many home-use whitening products claim to remove surface stains on teeth, however, deeper stains can be more difficult to remove and may require a professional clean. Dental whitening is usually achieved with custom-made mouth guards and specially formulated gel prescribed by your dentist that you wear over your teeth at home. An in-office whitening system may also be used to start the whitening process, and at indental we use Zoom2! The active ingredients used in tooth whitening cause the stains on your teeth to be broken down and dissolve. Clinical studies have proven that bleaching of the teeth and gums by a qualified dentist or hygienist is safe and effective.
